Background:
Under the overall guidance of the DRR/Operations and direct supervision of the ICT Associate the incumbent provides leadership in execution of ICT services at the UNDP CO, Project and field Offices, provides daily technical support to users of information management tools and technology infrastructure. The incumbent is responsible for review and advice on the use of new technologies that will enhance the CO ICT productivity. The ICT Assistant promotes a client-oriented approach.

The ICT Support Associate works in close collaboration with the operations programme and project teams in the Field and UNDP CO staff for resolving complex ICT-related issues.

Responsibilities:

•  Install, administer/operate the Local and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) to ensure the smooth running of all servers, PCs, network attached printers and other software and hardware with minimum downtime.

•  Should have a via knowledge on fixing Large and small Printers (Both local and network)

•  Should have knowledge on Website Designing in HTML,XHTML, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Flash Player etc

•  Good Knowledge in MS Access for Designing and Creating large Database

•  Must be very much capable of installing, operating and maintaining Windows Professional PCs, NT/2003 Servers or latest version;

•  Installing Wireless Network Technology and recommending best Security Solution

•  Must be very much capable of teaching staff in effectively operating Microsoft Office suites and other windows applications

•  Monitor all communication equipment and devices (i.e. routers, Wireless Network Equipment, antenna) and record/report any downtime to the local ISP (UNDP) liaising with IT/LAN Manager at UNDP

•  Should have very good Knowledge in Telephone PBX System and Troubleshooting related problem

•  Perform troubleshooting/maintenance and/or replacement of mal-functioning components of hardware including computers, routers, switches/hubs and printers

•  Keep a comprehensive inventory listing of IT equipment movement for CO and field offices in coordination with the various Database Administrator

•  Should be able to work under a stressful environment, under pressure and over duty hours and weekends;

•  Perform other IT related services as may be assigned by Unit Head.

•  Must be fluent in spoken and written English

IV. Impact of Results

The key results have an impact on the overall efficiency o including improved business results and client services. Forward-looking ICT management has an impact on the organization of office management, knowledge sharing, and information provision.

Educational Qualifications and Experience

•  Candidate must posses a degree/diploma in Computer Science or equivalent in Information Technology

•  Must have at least 5 years of working experience in similar position with either UN Agencies, International NGOs

•  Must have good working knowledge of installing Wireless Network technology; website designs and updates

•  Must posses experience in building and administering Windows 2000/2003 Servers
