Duties and responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of Assistant Representative for Operations, and the direct supervision of the LAN Manager, the incumbent performs the following duties:

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS:
Technical support to users
- Manage Field Offices local area networks, servers, routers, VSAT as well as computers to ensure minimum downtime
- Provide user support and technical assistance to the staff in the Field Offices as well as projects based in Monrovia
- Provide technical assistance at workshops, conferences and other events
- Provide training to field offices project staff in varieties of tasks that require the use of the office computers (reports, graphics, electronic mail etc.);
- Check for computer viruses and undertake periodic upgrades of the anti-virus software;
- Ensure prompt processing of all requests for technical assistance and hardware/software trouble shooting, coming from the Field Offices as well as other projects based in Monrovia
- Assist in arranging video-conferences and conference calls.
- Inventory management
- Maintain and update the inventory list of the IT equipment in field offices
- Record and file all necessary information related to the project hardware, software, its repairing, guarantees;
- Ensure the availability of toners and cartridges and spare parts for computers
- Equipment maintenance and upgrade
- Assist the LAN Manager to periodically examine the Field offices IT equipment requirements and work out the recommendations on improvement of the IT-situation in those offices;
- Provide technical support, change cartridges and service of the printers, copy machines and other multifunctional devices.
- Maintain contacts with other UN Agencies for knowledge/experience sharing.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education/experience - Information Technology-related education or minimum 3 years previous working experience in IT user support area and hardware mainternance services.
- Language Requirements - Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
- Practical Skills - - Practical knowledge of e-mail systems
- - Practical knowledge of network components – both active and passive
- - Advanced knowledge of MS Office 2000/2003 applications (mainly Outlook, Word, Excel)
- - Advanced knowledge of Windows 2000/XP systems
- - Experience with Windows 2000/2003 Server environment
- - Must be able to carry out routine maintenance of IT equipment
- - Knowledge in configuring CISCO Routers/switches
- - Programming skill is an asset
Other - Excellent communication skills, in English
- Strong inter-personal skills with ability to promote participation and teamwork;
- Willing to take on other responsibilities as assigned by the IT/LAN Manager
