SDGs Climate Change Training goes to Nimba

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia with support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP commenced a two day training workshop on Friday, September 7, in Ganta, Nimba County on capacity-building and operation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Liberia.

The training, is being funded by the Green Climate Fund held under UNDP’s National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) Project, which supports government to advance its adaptation process in climate sensitive sectors.

The NAPs project focuses on strengthening institutional frameworks and coordination for the implementation of national processes by expanding the knowledge based for scaling up adaptation, building capacity for mainstreaming climate change adaptation into planning, and budgeting processes and systems.

The two day training, will focus on educating stakeholders on the SDGs that relate to environment, natural resource management, energy, gender and climate change and raise awareness on the link between the NAPS, and SDGs and the importance of Climate Change Adaptation processes for the achievement of SDGs.

It also intends to improve understanding on SDGs and climate change adaptation challenges at the local and national levels, as well build synergies with partners involved in environmental issues for the successful implementation of their respective programs and initiatives for climate change adaptation in Liberia.
