County Service Center to open in Nimba County

May 1, 2016

In fulfillment of its commitment to the de-concentration of service, the Liberian Government and partners will this Monday May 2, formally open the Nimba County Service Center in Sanniquellie City.

The County Service Center (CSC) is part of the National De-concentration Platform and is primarily intended to bring services closer to the people. The CSC is a one-stop shop where documentation services relating to permits, licenses and certifications are offered at same quality and cost in Monrovia.

A release from the Ministry of Internal Affairs said the Vice President of Liberia, Amb. Joseph N. Boakai, will perform the official opening ceremony.

The program is also expected to be graced by an array of Government officials, development partners and members of the diplomatic Corps.

The Nimba County Service Center brings to four, the number of centers opened under the National De-concentration Platform of the Liberia Decentralization Support Program.  The other centers are located in Grand Bassa, Margibi and Bong Counties.

At the same time, in fulfillment of fiscal De-concentration, a County Treasury framework under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning has been attached to the Nimba County Service Center.

The Finance Ministry defines County Treasury as a framework that allows financial transactions to be implemented in the Counties rather than in Monrovia.

Implementation of the Liberia Decentralization Support Program (LDSP) is funded by the European Union, Swedish Government, USAID, UNMIL and UNDP.
