3rd quarter 2014 KMVP Report
The Kokoyah Millennium Villages Development Project (KMVP) continued its third quarter activities on a slow note, as a result of challenges posed by the intensification of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in Liberia.
- During the period under review, four contractors completed their construction projects and received third milestone payments while three received first milestone payments after meeting requirements for substantial completion of works for the said milestones. The construction/rehabilitation of schools, clinics and staff quarters would improve infrastructure development in Botota and Rock Crusher and provide students and teachers, clinic staff access to better learning and working conditions; thereby increasing service delivery and productivity while at the same time increasing student enrollment.
- To improve accessibility in Botota and Rock Crusher through streets lay out, a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) was concluded between Alpha Logging and Wood Processing Company Inc. and the MIA. According to the partnership agreement, the KMVP would provide resources to procure fuel and lubricants while the company supplies heavy machines and labour for the streets lay out.
- Fifteen (15) water wells under construction in different communities in Botota and Rock Crusher were also monitored and assessed. The completion of the water wells would provide community access to clean potable water and prevent diarrhea diseases associated with drinking dirty water from the creeks and shallow wells.
