What is the DEX Service Center? The DEX Service
Center is the Direct Execution
unit of UNDP in Liberia. The main function of the Center is to support
the implementation of the Programmes that are in its portfolio.
“Implementation” as defined by the Governing Council of the United Nations in 1992 is “the procurement and delivery of all programme or project inputs and their conversion into programme or project outputs.” The DEX was established in the UNDP Liberia Country Office in 2003, and has had an increase in the number of Programmes it is responsible for. The DEX Service Center is responsible for linking the Country Office’s Programmes to Operations; defining a clear division of labour; ensuring a system of transparency and accountability through its mechanisms and participation in the implementation of projects; and, building the capacity of the Country Office as a whole.
